It’s March 15th. It has been almost 7 months since my total hysterectomy and bladder lift and I am over the moon excited to say that this morning I woke up and realized that I have absolutely no pain in my body. My phantom ovary pain is gone. Post-surgical problems of sciatica and lower leg pain are gone. I have very few hot flashes and I haven’t had night sweats since February 3rd. Although my stomach is still bloated, I have no pain!
I’ve been seeing a acupuncturist (since November) for the hot flashes night sweats and a massage therapist (for the last 6 weeks ~ weekly massage) for the abdominal and leg pain.
Emotionally, I also feel more normal. I had huge bouts of depression, perhaps from my hormones being all over the place … or maybe because I felt that it was taking so long to heal. Then I was reading some posts on in a couple of the hysterectomy Facebook groups I belong to and women were saying that it can take up to a full year to heal and to be patient with yourself. After I read that I decided to be a little easier on myself.
Well, I feel like my normal self (pre-March 2012 when the extra heavy periods began). I hope this lasts. Life is good! Have a happy Sunday!
