As 2016 is coming to an end, I wanted to recap our travel year…
This year was a little rougher than I thought it would be .. heck, 2016 was rough for lots of us. Between global events, my husband’s health issues (he is totally better now) and discovering mold in our kitchen, it was a very tough year for us…more than I’ve let on here.
The beginning of the year was great … as was the end, but as I eluded to the middle of the year didn’t quite go as planned. We had a great cross-country trip planned for the summer – we were planning on visiting a few national parks for the 100 year anniversary – but we discovered mold in our kitchen and that trip fell by the wayside while mold remediation and kitchen renovation took place.

We visited Naples and Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. This is one of our favorite places to see wildlife (birds) in Florida.
This was a solo trip for me while Gary stayed home to deal with the Kitchen remodel (still not done 2 months later). I left October 5th on what was supposed to be a month long trip to visit my friend Le-Thu in San Ramon, California. I was to dog/house sit while they were in London and then we would hang out and do touristy things. Our friends Kirstin and Mike joined us for a weekend as we explored, Berkeley, San Francisco (visiting Chinatown, Ghiradelli square and walking the Golden Gate Bridge), and the John Muir House.
As October drew to an end, we were having so much fun and I wanted to be able to celebrate my goddaughter’s 20th birthday (at the end of November) with her and do more exploring so I extended my stay until December 6th (much to Gary’s dislike…I think he missed me or maybe just my cooking).
We went into San Francisco several times, hiking, visiting Eugene O’Neill house.
So excited to see what 2017 has in store! We’ve already booked our Panama Canal cruise on Holland America leaving Feburary 5th.
