Favorite Moments of 2016
Making chocolate at Bois Cotlette in Dominica
Bois Cotlette is the oldest surviving estate on Dominica. With a 290 year history producing cocoa, coffee, and sugar cane, the estate today continues forward processing cocoa from beans into dark chocolate bars and candies.
Lunch at Chez Panisse in Berkeley
Of all the outstanding restaurant meals I enjoyed in 2016, nothing came close to Alice Waters’ Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California.
My friend Le-Thu took me to Chez Panisse to thank me for taking care of her dog and house while they were traveling. I was so excited since I’ve wanted to go to Chez Panisse … well, since forever…
Everything was immaculately prepared and tantalizing. The only bad part? The price tag, but it was worth it. That meal was SO good.
Being Able to See (and Photograph) Amazing Wildlife
One of my favorite things I like to photograph is wildlife – birds, animals, etc. And I’ve taken some incredible photos this year … too many to post here … maybe I should do a post on my top photographs of 2016.
Visiting a Korean Spa
Le-Thu has taken me to a Korean Spa before when she living in Seattle. I absolutely love them. I wish we had one close to where I lived…I’d go once a month, at least.
Rediscovering coloring and tea for relaxation.
When I visited Le-Thu in 2015, we went to Indian Springs to get a mud bath. We had use of the facilities (i.e. pools) for the day. I had forgotten my book in the car, so Le-Thu offered to let me color in her book. This year, I’ve really taken to it.
Going to Baltimore Orioles Spring Training
My friend Becky invited me to spring training here in Sarasota. It was so much fun!
