Panama Canal Cruise Aboard Holland America’s Zuiderdam Part 2
The other day, I wrote a post about our ports of call on our recent Panama Canal cruise aboard Holland America’s Zuiderdam. I even took you on a tour of ms Zuiderdam! Today, I’m going to talk about what we did on sea days (because we had a few of them) and the FOOD!
Again, to recap, it was a 10-day cruise with the following ports of call…
Panama Canal Cruise Abroad Holland America’s Zuiderdam Part 1
Well, back on land after an incredible journey on Holland America Line’s ms Zuiderdam!
Several people have already asked me, “how was your cruise?” The answer, “it was absolutely fantastic.”
There are a few reasons for that. First, the Zuiderdam holds less than 2,000 people compared to the 3,500+ people the Carnival sails with. Second, the food was absolutely amazing! And third, the itinerary. Although, I’ve been to Panama twice, I’ve not been through the Panama Canal and it was definitely on my bucket list. I can now check that one off the list.
In this post, I’m going to give you the highlights of the ports we visited. Continue Reading…
Sailing on Holland America’s Zuiderdam
Living in Florida has its perks for folks like me who like to cruise. During the winter months, the cruise lines base several ships in Port Everglades to take those who want to escape the cold to the warm climate of the Caribbean.
Our friends, Regina and Mike, called us (around the end of December) to tell us they just booked a 10-day Panama Canal cruise and asked if we wanted to go. Heck yeah! Going through the Panama Canal has always been on my bucket list. Continue Reading…
Cayman Turtle Farm Excursion
The Cayman Turtle Farm is the world’s only sea turtle farm. It began in 1968 as a way to domesticate Green Sea Turtles. Currently there are 4 species totaling over 7,000. Continue Reading…
Making Organic Chocolate at Bois Cotlette Estate in Dominica
Dominica, an island of rich vegetation, mountains, the Caribbean Sea … and CHOCOLATE!!!!!! While Dominica may not be among the largest of the world’s chocolate producers, it is certainly developing a reputation as a great producer of high-quality organic chocolate.
Gary and I took this tour as a cruise ship excursion while on the Carnival Glory. We didn’t quite know what to expect but we’re very interested to learn about the history of the estate and of course make and sample chocolate! Continue Reading…
New Food Adventures While Cruising
I’ve always thought of traveling as a time to be adventurous. It is a time to try new things and step outside of my comfort zone. You only live once, right? Might as well do something you wouldn’t do at home.
When Gary and I go cruising, that rule applies even more so when it comes to food. Since most dining experiences are included in your fare, I enjoy trying the ‘new to me’ foods.

21 Day Carnival Glory Cruise Recap ~ Ports of Call Part 1
We just returned from a 21-day Caribbean cruise!!! Actually it was two cruise back-to-back aboard the Carnival Glory called the Journey’s cruise. Here’s part 1 of the ports of call cruise recap.
The difference in a Caribbean cruise versus one in, say, Alaska, the Mediterranean or South America, is that the islands are so close together, you stop in a different port pretty much every day. During our 21 days, we visited 16 islands and had 5 sea days. Continue Reading…

St. Lucia and Banana Ketchup Recipe
Gary and I love to cruise. Well, in truth, I love cruising more than he does. I just like that you can go to a lot of different places and only have to unpack once. Plus, they make certain areas, like the Caribbean affordable.
Lately, we’ve been cruising the Caribbean. The last week of January, our friends Mike and Regina joined us on a 7-day Southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan, Puerto Rico on the Carnival Valor, with ports of call to Continue Reading…
